Go on a European adventure from the spectacular coast of Norway to the lively and picturesque capital of Portugal, Lisbon. This exceptional voyage lets you explore great cities, beautiful islands, and historic oceans, revealing the real gems of the Atlantic Coast.
Experience European coastal gems from north to south. The journey starts in Bergen, on the west coast of Norway and the gateway to the fjords. The old Hanseatic vibe of the city, with its UNESCO World Heritage Site of Bryggen and the fish market Fisketorget, makes for quite a unique experience. It offers a taste of the urbanity to come in Amsterdam, our first port of call after crossing the North Sea. Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands, invites you to explore its history and contemporary urban flair by foot, bike, or canal boat. The journey then continues through the English Channel to shopping and sightseeing in Guernsey. In the Gulf of Biscay, you might want to go up on deck to look out for dolphins, whales, and seabirds. As we continue south, you can really feel the change as we catch up with summer. The Hercules Tower, the oldest Roman lighthouse in use today, welcomes you to La Coruña in Spain with its Celtic and Roman heritage. The journey continues to the two biggest cities in Portugal: Porto and Lisbon. Porto is known for its many monuments by leading international architects from the past and the present. Lisbon, Europe’s second-oldest capital (after Athens), welcomes you to UNESCO World Heritage Sites and the acclaimed Fado nights, where you can experience live folk song performances at cafes and bars all over town. Fram means “Forward” lifting expectations of the voyage at hand. MS Fram was built in 2007 with one mission in mind – to bring her guests closer to nature, wildlife and unforgettable experiences. The spacious outside decks include access to the very front of the ship – a great place to observe marine wildlife. The ship is purpose built as an expedition vessel with a higher ice-class, chart drawing tools, ship depth sounding database, extractable forward sounding sonar, iceberg search lights, autonomous tracking system, oversized oil retention system for self-sufficiency, and a full ‘expedition tools-deck’ equivalent to a car-deck that holds 25 vehicles. We believe that as an explorer you need an ‘expedition base-camp’ that is comfortable – something that combines ‘all oceans capabilities’ with safety, flexibility and environmental friendliness. That’s Fram – simply the best expedition ship imaginable. The observation lounge, with comfortable sitting areas at the top of the ship and large panoramic windows, gives you incredible views of nature. A pair of binoculars is installed for spotting wildlife and details of the ever changing landscape.
