FAM News is pleased to be sponsoring a Seminars-on-Ship aboard the elegant m/s Paul Gauguin on December 13-23, 2017 for 10-Night Tahiti Society & Tuamotus Islands cruise sailing round-trip from Papeete, Tahiti. The m/s Paul Gauguin was designed specifically to sail the shallow seas of Tahiti, French Polynesia, and the South Pacific, visiting small ports that larger ships can’t reach and effortlessly blending into the stunning natural beauty of the South Seas. The most luxurious ship to sail in Tahiti on a year-round basis. No ship gets closer!

In 1891, when Paul Gauguin arrived in Tahiti, he captured the charm, culture and languid grace of the natives in oils. You won’t find his paintings here, but the original models still call this piece of French Polynesia home.  The m/s Paul Gauguin was inspired by both the music of Rogers & Hammerstein for the play South Pacific, and what James Mitchener wrote, “Anyone who has ever been there wants to go back.”

Beauty surrounds you on this 10-day sojourn, both on land and underwater. The Society Islands beckon with lush rainforests, crystal-clear lagoons, and warm breezes that encourage nothing but indulgent beachside lounging. Continue on to the Tuamotu Archipelago, a collection of low-lying atolls known the world ‘round for their vibrant underwater ecosystem. Diving enthusiasts traveling with us on this sailing to Fakarava will have the opportunity to witness the annual grouper spawning. They gather by the thousands, making it also a great opportunity to spot other predatory fish and sharks. Visit Fakarava, a UNESCO-classified Nature Reserve where experienced divers can descend up to 130 feet to visit a world inhabited by gray sharks, schools of colorful fish, and untouched coral.

First call on Huahine, the “Garden Island”. Enjoy two full days in the quintessential Pacific paradise of Bora Bora including our exclusive white-sand beach on a motu off the coast. Marvel at towering Mount Otemanu, snorkel in sapphire lagoons, or get a bird’s-eye view of the island with a scenic helicopter ride. Then it is on to Rangiroa, the largest atoll in the Tuamotus and one of the largest atolls in the world. Visit Fakarava, a UNESCO-classified Nature Reserve where experienced divers can descend up to 130 feet to visit a world inhabited by gray sharks, schools of colorful fish, and untouched coral. Diving enthusiasts traveling with us on this sailing to Fakarava will have the opportunity to witness the annual grouper spawning. They gather by the thousands, making it also a great opportunity to spot other predatory fish and sharks. Spend a relaxing day on Motu Mahana, our very own private islet, complete with white-sand beaches, swaying palm trees, a barbecue lunch, drinks served in coconuts, and a floating lagoon bar. Next it is 2 days on one of Tahiti’s most beautiful islands Moorea, home of the mountainous peak Bali Hai. There is a reason these islands are world renowned – their beauty is unmatched.
